Join Together is committed to protecting the privacy of any information you provide us while using this website and its services. This document outlines the policies and practices we follow to fulfill that commitment.

Email Subscriptions

Users who wish to subscribe to e-mail updates must register for a free online account. Registration exists solely to protect the privacy and security of individualized settings required for these services, and includes the solicitation of certain information from you. The following items elaborate on this information and how we use it.

1. Unless you give explicit permission to the contrary, your e-mail address and other personal information will not be released, sold, loaned or otherwise distributed to any person or organization outside Join Together or the Boston University School of Public Health.

2. Your self-chosen password is stored on a secure server and will under no circumstances be divulged except to the e-mail address associated with it in the subscription account.

3. You may inform us at any time if you would like to cancel your account and/or have your contact information deleted from our records.

4. Following registration, Join Together employs browser cookies to recognize a subscriber and his or her online account access privileges. For more information about our use of cookies for online account holders, see that section of our registration help file.

Information Collected By Web Servers
Join Together Online web servers automatically collect certain non-personally identifiable information, such as which pages each user visits and the domain name (e.g., aol.com) of visitors. This information is used to measure traffic and usage patterns. The servers also log IP addresses, or the location of your computer on the Internet, for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes, as well as for aggregate site usage statistics. We do not use IP address logs to track your session or your behavior on our site. We do not release this information to other organizations or individuals, nor do we link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable.

Use of Cookies
Join Together employs anonymous browser "cookies" to track site usage from all visitors. As noted above, we also use cookies as part of the account sign up and maintenance processes. Join Together does not employ third party cookies from any outside organization. Users who do not accept cookies from the domain "jointogether.org" may access any web content, but they will not be able to sign up for or manage an online account.

E-mail this Article and Tell a Friend features
The e-mail This Article feature is an easy way for users to send pages on our site through e-mail. Tell a Friend enables you to conveniently send a message to others describing our website. The e-mail addresses that you supply to use these services will only be used to transmit the e-mail, let your recipient(s) know who sent the message, and notify you of any transmission errors. The addresses will not be added to any internal lists, released to any outside organization, or used for any other purpose.
